DRAGANA
KRSENKOVIC BRKOVIC
Dragana Krsenkovic Brkovic is a writer from Montenegro. She is the author of a novel (The Lost Seal), story collections (The Fire in Alexandria, The Master’s Palace), and children’s books - collections of original fairy tales (The Secret of a Blue Crystal, The Genie of the Manito Lake).
Also, Dragana writes studies, critics, and academic essays about literature, theater, media, gender, and many other social issues.
She graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade, and from the Faculty of Drama Arts, Department of Dramaturgy, University of Arts in Belgrade. She received MPhil in the Study of Literature from the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Montenegro.
Dragana graduated from the first faculty because of her father's wish. Although these four years raised her awareness about social and political implications of artistic work, she never took an active role as a politician.
TV Belgrade decided to screen Dragana's television drama Hot Drops in 1981. This was her first play, written as a part of the entrance examination at the Faculty of Drama Arts.
Despite wartime environment, in the course of 1994, Dragana founded the Puppet Theatre The Blue Lagoon, the first puppet theatre in Montenegro, together with her husband Tomislav Brkovic. With The Blue Lagoon, Dragana established recognizable poetic and aesthetic criteria and qualities, while puppet performances gained serious outlines in Montenegro. The Hidden Treasure of the Little Troll
